OVERVIEW AND EXPECTATIONS

This beautiful seaside region across Ponte 25 April is a vibrant venue for Lisbon weekenders. Among the beautiful beachfronts and fishing towns you will find yourself in the beautiful natural park of Arrábida. The hilly pastures for the sheep that produce the stunning Azeitão cheeses, and vineyards of Moscatel grapes destined for one of Portugal’s classic sweet wines, DOC Setúbal. The peninsula also has a star red grape, the Castelão grape, which dominates the fine red wines of this region, feeling far more at home here than in the rest of Portugal.

The two DOCs are confined to the peninsula, but the VR Península de Setúbal extends around the marshlands of the River Sado Estuary that flows through the eastern side of the region, and strongly influences the ‘terroir’. Península de Setúbal has a very big range of grape varieties, Portuguese and international what makes the wine styles vary hugely. Two of Portugal’s largest & oldest Vineyards have a significant influence on the development of the quality and styles of these wines. With this wine excursion you are going to unveil the savour flavours of this spectacular wine region.
