Pousada de Valença

Valença

Pestana Pousada de Valença

Valença do Minho, the old and attractive border town and county nerve centre, stands on top of a mount over the river Minho and is dominated by a two towered fortress with a double wall, that’s from the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

In Valença do Minho, the Pousada de São Teotónio is in the interior of the old fortress and offers a stunning view of the river and of Tui, on the opposite side.

The Pousada de Valença opened in 1962, a project by architect João de Mello Breyner Andresen. This Pousada embraces the Vale do Rio Minho from the green Portuguese banks to the Galician progress which involves the Tui cathedral.

Situated on the frontier with Spain on top of the historical centre and the fortified Valença, the Pousada of São Teótonio has a magnificent view of the neighbouring lands resting on the town’s walls, where you can feel the harmony of nature in an idyllic setting.

Overlooking the natural landscape, each room includes a desk and a private bathroom equipped with a hairdryer and balconies that invite guests to look upon the horizon.

The Pousada de São Teotónio Restaurant is characterized by its culinary delicacies, which are among the best traditions of the Minho region and the best typical Portuguese cuisine.

Indulge in singular and characteristic dishes of the Minho region, such as roasted cod with soft potatoes and sautéed sprouts or Serrana style baby goat with red potatoes and fresh vegetables. The restaurant has an array of bold and exciting wines of the region.
