Marvão

Pestana Pousada Convento do Marvão

The Pousada do Marvão is located in the village of Marvão in the region of Alentejo. It is distributed among four small, traditional cottages, and the nearest city is Portalegre, just 21 km away. The village sits at an altitude of 860 metres, which offers fantastic views of Spain and the Alentejo plains.

Enjoy the restaurant, with a cozy atmosphere and rustic ambiance and the best panoramic views in the region, as well as the bar. The rooms afford magnificent views of the mountains or the picturesque village, and all feature televisions and free Wi-Fi.

If you are looking for peace and tranquillity, the Pousada de Marvão guarantees a unique and original stay! It was at the initiative of a prominent figure of the time, Mr Jeremias da Conceição Dias, that Marvão was endowed with its first hotel establishment. The heir of a house adjoining the residence of the neighbouring verger, he built and set up an inn there, to which he gave the suggestive name of "Ninho D' Águias" (Eagles' Nest), operating with five rooms. About 10 years later, it was extended to eight rooms, taking advantage of the extensive balcony to install a restaurant, where guests can enjoy the magnificent view.

In 1992, after a 15-month closure for expansion and refurbishment, the inn reopened with 28 double rooms and one suite.
